Lodi Gardens (Lodi Road, near Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi) – spreading over 90 acres in the heart of Delhi, Lodi gardens is a horticultural and architectural tribute to the rulers that controlled much of Northern India during the 16th century. At the numerous tombs and monuments located here, one can find lush lawns and hordes of flowers. One prominent tomb found here is that of Mohammed Shah (the last of the Sayyid dynasty’s rulers). Visitors who would be attracted to this site include history buffs, cultural enthusiasts, and nature lovers. The Gardens in their present form was actually designed by the British during their last years of the country’s colonization. Admission: free. Hours: sunrise to sunset.
